Introduction:
The overarching goal of JTDS is to improve the living conditions of tribal people
in general and Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups (PVTGs) in particular.
This is sought to be achieved by organising and enabling the communities
to adopt sustainable and productive natural resource management regimes,
adopt market-oriented production systems and learn the skills and gain the
experience of planning and implementing development plans relevant to
their villages.
Up to recent times the major focus of the project was to create community
infrastructure (common and individual) and under crop intensification program
majorly kharif season was targeted that too limited to paddy cultivation
in low land (DON). With the aim to increase the basket of livelihoods and
income generation particularly with on farm intervention, a holistic approach
was adopted increasing the cropping intensity with judicious use of existing
resources. The focus is also on doubling farmer’s income.
