Background:
Rural India has been facing the daunting
challenge of poverty, estimated at 41.8% (2011).
The incidence of poverty is highest among the
Scheduled Tribes (STs) in the Central and East
Indian plateau, including Jharkhand. The situation
is not because of lack of resources rather lack of
judicious utilization of resources. In view of this
ardent situation, Jharkhand Tribal Development
Society (JTDS) has adopted the “weather based
localised planning & implementation strategy”
which gathered a huge response within the
community.
